Astra Militarum: Auxilia (Paperback)

Step into the brutal world of the Astra Militarum with Auxilia, a Warhammer 40,000 novel by Russell Zimmerman. This gripping Black Library story follows Castellan-Colonel Orysian Roane, a young Cadian officer suddenly forced to shoulder the responsibilities of command after his chain of command is shattered.

Roane finds himself responsible for a ragtag auxilia built around a clan of despised abhumans. His regiment is a volatile mixture of different cultures, tactical traditions, survivors, veterans, and soldiers from across the Imperium. Making matters worse, a ruthless commissar openly despises the unit while the Departmento Munitorum largely ignores its existence.

As Roane struggles to transform his unconventional force into something resembling a Cadian regiment, the world around them descends into civil war. With survival hanging in the balance, his first real command may also become his last. Auxilia offers an engaging look at the Astra Militarum from an unusual perspective, exploring loyalty, prejudice, leadership, and the soldiers who are often overlooked by the Imperium.

Written by Russell Zimmerman, Auxilia is an excellent addition to any Warhammer 40,000 and Black Library collection, particularly for readers who enjoy Astra Militarum stories, Imperial military fiction, and character-driven tales set amid the endless wars of the 41st Millennium.
